The cornerstone of how we use fillers is to use them as tools to maintain the structure of the aging face — to slow the “sagging” or aging process and not just “fill” lines.
As you age, you begin to lose volume and bone mass. At GoodSkin, we believe fillers are best used to preserve and occasionally correct your facial bone structure.
We use fillers to preserve and lift lost facial structure rather than simply plumping or filling. Due to many different factors in the USA, fillers were originally advertised as just that: a means to “fill” lines.
We understand that it is not so much wrinkles or lines that make us look tired, but rather the shrinkage of fat pads and decrease of bone support over the entire face.
The most well-known brands are Restylane, Juvéderm, Scultptra and Belotero.
For example, we might use a formulation of hyaluronic acid and calcium that is naturally found in your body to create and maintain a younger appearance. Each filler is specifically chosen for your specific skin type and also for the desired effect.
With a few drops of hyaluronidase, the hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved.
Treatment with Radiesse may last longer than a hyaluronic acid filler (like Juvéderm), though both are temporary and may require touch-ups.
Our incidents of bumps caused by Sculptra in the clinic is very, very low. How we avoid that is by using a more diluted mix of Sculptra.
Calcium hydroxylapatite filler can be used on the same areas of the body as hyaluronic acid: cheeks, laugh lines around the mouth, lips, and lip lines.
Calcium hydroxylapatite filler can also be used on the pre-jowl fold, on chin wrinkles, and on the backs of the hands.
"A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT WE LOSE BONEY SUPPORT WITH AGE AND SO WHEN YOU'RE USING FILLER YOU WANT TO BE VERY AWARE OF HOW TO CONTOUR A PATIENT'S FACE BY ADDING BONEY SUPPORT" — LISA GOODMAN, OWNER & FOUNDER OF GOODSKIN.
